Anyone operating within the areas identified as being within the remit of the Guild can apply to become a member of the Guild by following the process outlined below:

STEP 1: BECOME A MEMBER OF PLANNING PLANET:

WHY? Until the Guild can stand on its own, please make sure you join us at http://www.planningplanet.com

Later, when you contact the Guild, the Guild Officer will need to know the website address for your profile.  To find this you must Login go to My Account and note your internet address.  As an example, Planning Planet's founder, James Williams' profile is found here: http://www.planningplanet.com/users/11-james-williams

 

STEP 2: COMPLETE YOUR ONLINE EXPERIENCE PROFILE:

WHY? This will help both us and you understand your background and experience as well as your future interests.

Your profile will show as being 100% complete on YOUR PROFILE STATUS block, which is visible after you Login and go to My Account. A complete profile is made up of the following two elements: PROFILE and EXPERIENCE.

STEP 3 - COMPLETE THE ONLINE SELF ASSESSMENT:

WHY? The self assessment is an honour-process that will help you identify your standing against others in the field as well as identifying areas you may wish to improve.  It should simply make you think about the kind of subjects that are perhaps important to us as professionals.

Self Assessments are found here http://www.planningplanet.com/assessment_centre you would need to complete each of the 12 elements for this to be considered complete.  We plan to soon improve this to allow you to filter the results to show your scores against a confidential benchmark of other professionals in similar industries, locations or length of experience.  Only you and the Guild Officers will see your results.

 

STEP 4 - CONTACT A GUILD OFFICE & REQUEST TO JOIN:

WHY? So that the Guild people will know that you have completed Step 1, 2 and 3 and that you want to join.

WHAT'S NEXT?  To request to join, please email GuildAdmin@planningplanet.com advising them of your Planning Planet web address for your profile (refer STEP 1 above) and to confirm that you have completed your Profile, Experiences and Self Assessment.

A Guild Officer will then liaise with you to check that the above has been done and to welcome you to the Guild and identify contacts for you...

WHATS COMING LATER?.....

Phase 2 Launch 02/03/12

  • Formal accreditation process will begin to go live
  • Existing “members” of the Guild will now go through the formal accreditation process
  • People with relevant professional qualifications can gain “Associate” level membership
  • Confirmation of membership fees and their timescales

As the formal accreditation process is still under development we are not at this stage able to give you the full details of what knowledge testing and capability assessments you will need to undertake, however we can confirm the following :-

  • Undertake online testing to validate discipline and industry knowledge
  • Validate skills, experience and useful ‘on-the-job’ capability via:
    • Practical written testing
    • Practical and useful capability exercises
  • Undertake a Professional Interview with a Regional Guild panel
  • A capability & experience overview with two Planning Planet / Guild referees
