Industrial Turn-Round Work Breakdown Structure

"INDUSTRIAL TURN-AROUND WBS"

Planning and Scheduling Considerations and Scheduling Risk Analysis to prepare for an Industrial Turn-Round

By Anthony (Tony) L. Lowery

An Industrial Turn-Around is planned and scheduled many months in advance.  Changes to the Master Schedule and others’ WBS occur daily or weekly as a multitude of scopes are identified and developed. The TA is usually accomplished with 2 ea 12 hour shifts per day, seven days a week for the duration. An example of duration, of a TA, is about 30 calendar days. So critical is the accomplishment of all the tasks, schedules are produced and meted out in hours.

This is a general overview of an industrial turn-around. Some of the projects will be simpler and other’s much more complex.
