January, 2011 Currently working as a Major Projects Planner for Downer EDI in New Zealand. Main focus at the moment is to develop planning into its own entity as part of the projects life cycle. At present, the majority of planning is done by Project Managers who have an idea about what they want to acheive but lack the time and experience to do it properly.
With NEC3 becoming more frequent in New Zealand the need for specialist planners is required.
Project controls and Earned Value are also being seen as a way to help avoid delays.
I have been planning for 5 years, and prior to that I was a project manager for 9 years managing a number of infrastructure projects both in New Zealand and the UK
