Can you copy views from one programme to another.

Hi Craig Hi Sam

I think you are working in the Enterprise version.

In stanadalone it is not a good idea to keep all your projects under one file - even if they are set as individual projects.

There is always the possibility that the global file could become corrupted - it has happened to me twice - and even if you back up regularly you will never know when the corruption source has been retained in the back up.

Another point is that if you hit the "reschedule all" button then every project would be rescheduled whether you wanted it or not and it could take 10 - 15 minutes to complete.

It is a good idea to keep more than one project on a file if there are key resources that have to be allocated between projects - you cannot link between standalone files.

In standalone it is best to keep individual files for each project.

The only way to copy views is to copy the whole file.

Anyway it only takes a short while to reset your preferred views on a new project.

Best regards

Hello Sam,

Why create a new file / database, why not keep all your projects in the one database and share the views between?

Create folders for your projects by company, state, division, country, industry or whatever and keep them in the one database.

You can use different calendars / resouorces etc.. for each project, just store them indifferent folders.

If you need to save off a file or single project to send to someone, simply create a new file then and copy this particular project into it.

This way you can build up your views / resources / costs etc... and keep refining as you go.

Hope this helps,
