I think the best advice I could pass on to yourself would be to try and secure a trainee planning position with a company whilst offering some QS skills as an incentive to them. It is important to sit with an experienced planner during the early stages of your career so as to not pick up bad practices.
As a QS have you worked alongside planners? I'm sure that if you have you will already have a headstart over many people hoping to turn to planning already.
