on the left try changing the column to early start and early finish instead of just start and just finish

check to see if the Drive Activity Dates by default option has been switched off. Make sure that the calendars match down to the exact workhours, because even if a resource assignment is ending on the same day as the activity, if they are out of sync by even 1 hour, then the resource assignment will no longer sync up with the Activity's dates. Make sure you have your Duration Type set to Fixed Duration and Units/Time or Fixed Duration and Units.
