The progress line is the point in time when the progress of the work was estimated - usually on a % complete basis.
In most forms of software the percentage complete for each task is set in a "Progress Column" and the progressed section on the task bar is shown with some sort of undeline.
Tasks with progress added fall to the left of the Progress Line (or Data Date in some cases) and those uncompleted tasks fall to the right.
Only tasks on the right will respond to a re-schedule.
Part completed task will be split and only the uncompleted section will remain in the programme logic.
In Asta PowerProject you have the option to "Link Around Completed Tasks" which retains the out of sequence completion logic.
SS Links with lead lags and no end of task successor lose all logic once the lead lag link is passed by the progress line - this is why only FS links should be used.
If you have resources set to a work pattern make sure that the Time on the Progress line is earlier than the work pattern start time other wise you could lose an hour or two on each update.
Finally there are two options with a progress line:
1. ZigZag - which moves left to right showing which tasks are behind or ahead of programme.
2. Straight - which after F9 shows the projected completion date as at the Progess Line.
Remember always that Progress % is only a guess - compounded when multi task weightings are used.
