Filters in P6

Hi Bryan

I don’t know a standard. But you can achieve this:

1. Define a user define field e.g. u_varianceunits

2. Open the View "Assignments"

3. Run a global change out of the group resource assignments: u_... = Actual units - Budgeted Labour Units

4. Create a filter: If u_... > 0

This should work. You’ll only see those assignments

Which variance do you mean?

So you would more than likley need 2 filters to run that.

Just as a side bar are you familiar that a budget is not quite a budget in Primavera?

AS4817-2006 states -

Budget Is Defined As;

A cost target, based on the planned resource requirements (e.g. Labour, material, other direct costs and possibly INDIRECT COSTS), for a given scope of work. The Budget is used for performance measurement and management purposes and generally remains static unless there is a variation in the scope of work or other approved changes. It may be expressed in terms of dollars, labour hours, or other measurable units.

Now if you go to this thread Budget Discussion you may find some interesting facts.

Outside of variance, I wanted to filter for Actual Labour Units greater than Budgeted Labour Units.

Bryan,

What are the parameters?

Have you used the any of the following / All of the following features?

Have you used two (2) filters to do the job and selected the ’Select activities that match’ Any selected filter or All selected filters?
