EV against Cost Account

Hi Steve!

Tried the UDF route as well, but that doesn’t have the desired effect either, due to not being able to set resource fields equal to the value in an activity field. Going to try excel next, but really wanted to avoid doing that as it adds another few steps to the process where errors can appear.

Primavera have suggested using the SDK, but I think that is one for when we have a bit more time.

thanks for the input though

Neil,

Earned Value in P3e is computed at activity level from the Performance Percent Complete and the activity budget.

The best workaround would be to create a User Defined Fields to calculate a Resource Percent Complete and Earned Value from the Resource Budget (or do it in Excel)

I would have thought an activity could only have 1 CA. If you are going to use P5 then you will have to break your activities down per CA.

CA is available against resources.

Thanks Mark,

but unfortunately that doesn’t work properly with multiple Cost Accounts. Where an activity has multiple accounts, the summary bands contain multiple accounts as well.

Using the expense or resource views doesn’t work either as EV is not an available field at that level, only at activity level.

Any other thoughts?

Hi Neil,

Resources and Activities are the bottom level and this is where all the calculations start. WBS, OBS and CA are used for reporting levels. So its just the case of chnaging the reports from WBS to CA. If you go to Group you can select CA there.

I hope this helps and puts you back on track.
