Actually i got those Excel workbooks from Rodel so i called it like that , its just two work books in excel named activity and project , with which u can make global changes to a project.
Thanks steven was trying the way u asked actually if i swap the programs the problem is i cannot show the percent complete of the activities in the layout , this presentation i want to make to reinforce my EOT claim , so i wanted it to be self explanatory , actually i wanted to show the knocking effect the 3 times increased volume of excavation and delay in the issuing of shop drawings for the roof structural steel works had on the project both this activities were in the critial path to start with , but as the project progressed the critical path shifted so i wanted to show the impact on the actual baseline critical path.
Thanks again bijaya the solution offered by you was just marvellous , just to avoid the time consuming practice of taking print and then updating the activity code to current schedule i did it with Rodels Excel utilities its just superb.
There is no easy filter to sort out critical activities of the target programme.
This solution may help:
Open your target programme and filter for critical activities (whatever way you have difined it - Longest or with float less some certain value). Make a new activity code to show that they are critical activities.
Make a print out (can make it easy).
Now open your current programme and give the same new activity codes to those activities.
Since target programme is a one time operations, even if it takes a long time to create your first current programme, you have now original critical path information in your current programme forever.

Actually i could not make u understand my problem , i have the Target Project Now in a layout i want to see only the critical activities of my target project and how the critical path was affftected due to some external affects on the project , i.e i want to have a layout of only the Target critical activities and the status of the activities at present.
open your Target Project at the same time with your Current Project, and compare (make sure they got the same data date). or just show your target in your current schedule, and choose criticalities to be shown in the Target Project.
