My main responsibility was to set up the planning system for Techrete operations based on a multi project, parallel progress manner. The company was very good at their core business “manufacturing concrete cladding panels”. They wanted to implement a project management culture on the long run and needed to establlish a project planning system to start/reflect that. The system that I have implemented consisted of coordinating the design, manufacture and site work stages of business, enabling the efficient flow of information. It included the used of in-house software to track backlog and current manufacture load. Microsoft Office tools (Access and Excel) were used to create standard froms and reports to communicate progress / requirements between the workshops, designs office and site. Once it was up and running I have handed it to a junior planner for maintenance. The system was able to produce management reports weekly, and alarm any loops, breaks and delays in the production as well as information related. I was also involved in forensic planning for claims. It was a real challenge for me because it was my first role in manufacture, which incorporates both the characteristics of a project and manufacture. Once the system was up and running it was a routine so I preferred to hand it over to a more junior professional for maintenance.
