New to Building Construction Planning

Hi Alaa,

I wouldnt worry much about the operations of P6 or your software for planning, as the principles and operations are the same for the industry.

If you are new to buildings, you can do some research on building construction; but it is imperative to get input from the various departments and team members on the technical side; you may want to know for example the sequences for foundation construction of the building?  Is dewatering required? What logistics do you require?

You do need also to know the preconstruction approvals and submittals required before the activity can commence?

Check also what authority approvals needed for the removal of or relocation of existing utiliies? Do you need certification and permits?

Also, you need to understand your role in the project?  If you are dedicated planner to the project, then obviously you need to do a lot; if you are a part of a larger team, then you should understand more on what is expected from you to deliver..

Every project poses unique challenges, time and budget.

Hi Alaa

Whatever industry you are planning the basic principles remain the same.

You must however have an understanding of build sequences and you wont get that from a text book.

If you don't know - then ask soemone who does.
