Dear Rola,

This is like any other project, you need to start with

Material Submittals (civil, electrical, mechanical and maybe chemical)

Engineering Drawings

Procurement

Construction

Testing and Commissioning

Handing Over

What Gary is describing is the actual process. It is wounderful to be able to understand it in order to be able to monitor the construction and record the progress. Of course, you will be able to identify the Changes from design as well.

Review the BOQs for the material, and the Issued For Construction drawings for the shop drawings to be prepared, and then sit with the Construction team to determine the sequence of construction.

With kind regards,

Samer

There are a number of different potential treatment options, so the below is fairly generic. Do you not have any kind of scope or spec to work with?

-Screens & screenings handling plant (metal mesh to filter out major detritous which could harm pumps, etc. Screenings handling might be washing it & conveying to skips)

-Stone / grit removal (eg constant velocity grit channels with dredging pump)

-Inlet pumping station

-Primary Settlement tanks (floating scum removed from the top, settled sludge removed from bottom via bellmouth)

-Biological treatment –either

a) Aeration lanes (settled sewerage passes through aerated channels seeded with bugs which eat biological matter)

b) mineral beds (sewerage trickles through the packed mineral beds, with the bugs seeded on top)

-Final Settlement Tanks (similar process to PSTs above)

-Effluent outflow

In addition, the sludge taken from PSTs and FSTs has it’s own process stream:

Sludge storage tanks

Sludge thickening / dewatering

Then 1 or more of the following :

a) anerobic digestion tanks, with gas being recovered as renewable energy

b) Liming plant to reduce odour & raise ph

c) Incineration

d) Thermal drying (export to agriculture)

e) Pasteurisation

f) Thermal Hydrolysis
