In the last 6 years I have been working for CarillionAmey in construction and maintenance. I was a Technicial services officer whom started out in planning and scheduling works on a simple in-house software package. I spent the first two years carrying out this task along with planning maintenance works on MOD barracks. I therefore have a knowledge of this, the process involved in works and roughly hw long they take. I then moved onto larger scale maintenance running and planning works on 7 large army barracks at the same time. This also involved heavy client relationship involvement and planning and organising skills. I then took on a large scale multi million pounds Demolition scheme and Highways resurfacing project. This is where I started using MS Project in which I was trained in. I have used this solidly over the past 4 years and have an excellant understanding of project stages and also where things can be delayed and what to look out for. In my role as project manager I believe this has helped me understand exactly what is been put into the software and also how and where I can influence the planning and project path. It has also given me a good understanding of timescales and where time can be saved and where it can be risk. I have used MS project and I am going to shortly be learning P6. I have an overall understanding of both M&E and B&CE works which I believe is important to appreciate other disciplines.
