Start vs. Finish total float!

In P3e (advanced scheduling options), there are options for "Compute Total Float as":
1- Late start-Early start
2- Late finish-Early finish


I cant understand in which case, these two might differ and how we may benefit from this option.

Anybody there to give me an example?
