ISO 9000 vs PM

I would like to know to what extent are construction companies worldwide involved in quality management and certification under ISO 9000 standards.

I find Project Management techniques and procedures much more pertinent and developed for this field, but there’s a trend in our country, that is making ISO certification a must.

What is going on elsewhere?
