I still think your method will not work because

1. if you do not have filters you pick up all the actual finished activity (thats not what we wanted in a rolling programme)

2. you will need to display all the months prior to the data date where you will have activity that had started but not yet finish

3. you cannot use additional grouping because it will all over the place with so many grouping across different time period

good luck and try to use a rolling programme filter....

Alex,

I know this one. That’s why I reject any activity with PCT=100 and AF is blank. Uncomplete data input is not accepted.

then MK

Have you try to progress your schedule using in the bar chart using the mouse to assign % complete, in there you can have progress the activity to 100% without puting a actual finish

Alex,

My practice is validate all data before analysis or reporting.

Any activity with RD=0 or PCT=100 must have both Actual Dates earlier than data date. Any missing is not accepted.

Mr. Alex

Sorry for late reply but i am surprise that why my filter not worked at your P3 i am running the same filter to update my schedule on weekly basis. You did not give any solid reason not to work.

When we said the percentage less then 100 it mean it will select all activity not completed and there is no reasons you keep did not feed the actual finish date for the 100% completed activities.

and when we said early dates it does not mean only early start, it looks also the early finish and so

the filter pick

all activity which is not start from early start with range

and all started activities with early finish which are ultemately in the range even though the RD is 90 days.

this filter work 100% accurate if some one has still doubt then i am able to send him privetaly the examples

sorry if some experts get hurt with my comments

You are half right but half wrong

You can have a 100 completed activty without actual finish date

but you cannot have a actual finish activity have less than 100% PCT

Thats why if you looking a 1 week lookahead you dont want to see activity which is already finish 100% complete.

.mktse please read carefully with my filter and try it yourself

Good Luck

Actal finished activity will have PCT=100 and RD=0 and an Actual date

For PCT<100, the actual finished activity is excluded. However the software have the problem that accept the record that PCT=100 or RD=0 without input any Actual Finish Date.

Recommend a practice to check the input data before do analysis or reporting

not quit right

PCT<100 do is not necessary cover every activity

PCT<100 is cover the activity that is Actually finished

If you look closer there is two possibility that if activity actually started you need to pick up those activity started but not finish. and also the activity is not started but within the window period

the filter i give should cover all scenerio

and DD should cover the data date when you change your schedule

If Actual Start is ignore in the criteria, the filter result may bee the same since PCT<100 already "cover"

Don’t forget to schedule the project with revised data date (first day of the week)

I use this filter to filter out all my 1 month lookahead, 3 month lookahead and 6 month lookahead program.

Good luck

This one is starting to make sense. With the others I am missing the ones that are already started.

Ok now the dumb question.

How do I get "Null" in there?

Member for

Tahir

Your filter is wrong

Because the early dates cannot be within DD+0 to DD+7

Simple if the activity is already started

THe filter should look like this

Precentage Complete <100

AND

((Actual Start = Null and Early start Within DD+0 to DD+7)

or

(Actual Start <> Null and Early start less than DD+7))

HTH

By the way Hemanth

if you want to display a one week lookahead is no use to organise by early start because all other activity will be displayed as well

organize by early start

select "day" as duration for banding

Dear adben

There is nothing like VBA / visual fox but we can resolve this matter like below

Click the filter Icon or from format - > filter tthen press add

“Activities in progress / new activities”

in Select if tab

Percent complete less then 100

in second level

early dates within range dd+0d lower limit and DD+7D

now run

from now whenever you run next time this filter it always give you the activities in progress and early start within next week

Ad,

You question is software specific. I am afraid that you will need to share with us the platform you are suing to record your schedule.
