Updating of a Project Group?

Dear All;

In fact I tried the methods proposed by Pradeep Kumar and Jorge Taguinod (copying/restoring etc.) by myself before I post my concern here. But I was not happy with that solution.

Now, it seems to me that the right method is "check out/check in" function as explained by Steven Oliver and Paul Harris.

Thanks.

As Steven stated below, the Project Check-in and Project Check-out is designed exactly for this purpose.

The advantage of this function over back up and restore is that external relationships from a sub-project are maintained when a project is checked out to another system and autromatically restored when the project is checked back in again.

Since you have the PRX file, I think you can RESTORE it into the Master Project.

Or,

You can restore and open the subproject, copy the contents and paste to the Original subproject.

Create a backup of your files first (WINZIP) before you try this so just in case something wrong happens.

Hope this helps.

Other method is

1.Copy your original project with all subprojects to other name and then delete all sub projects in it.

2.Copy your updated sub projects in to the Group. While copying keep the option to maintain the external links.

3.Open the Main group project and schedule it.

This will give the correct result on two conditions.

a) Activity IDs are same in both Original & Updated sub-projects.

b) Data dates for all Sub projects and Group project is same.

Hope this may help you
