Dear Everybody,

I could finally adjust the bars with all of your help during the past few days!

i am trying how to resolve the automatically updating bar movement since the bars don’t move after change of the duration.

Thank you so much!

Shadow moon,

1. press F9 on the keyboard instead of Tools, Schedule; you will skip the schedule report,

2. in the activity form, open Cons(traints) and enter a constraint date for the start milestone.

Dear Friends,

I could link up the activities normally now except:-

1. is it necessary to update the "tool" -> "Schedule" for each activities since P3 would ask me to save the "Primavera Look" every time which is very troublesome?

2. How to fix the :start milestone" to a specific date since after i update the "schedule", it goes back to the data date everytime. How to determine an activities to a date without change?

My emai is colossu@netvigator.com

I could email you the P3 to you to read easily.

Thanks!!!

Shadow moon,

Decide if a "milestone" is start or finish, then link it as a "task" activity; it will be slightly different if you are using "flag" activities, as they cannot have a successor.

What was your problem with scheduling?

Dear All,

I finally success to link them up by your advice!!! ^O^

Schedule command (Tools menu)

You should calculate a schedule each time you add or delete activities or revise their dates, durations, or relationships.

Is P3 gives you a ’Loop detected warning’ when scheduling?

Shadow Moon,

what you say you’ve done is quite unclear; procedure is as follows:

a) link all activities as per your project’s needs,

b) Click Tools, Schedule; enter the correct data date, it should be the project scheduled start date, after which all the activities bars will be moved; display the schedule report on screen as suggested by the sofwtare and check all the data agaisnt what you need to have.

Hope it helps,

Dear Alexandre and friends,

I have linked all them up but any other box i need to input data to make it move forward?

Today, I found if i input the duration period accumulate from the data date, the bar could move outward, but I feel it is not sensible to do so since I can’t calculate all activities!!!

Many thanks!

Are you sure the activities are properly linked together? Display the relationships to check this point.

Then, what is your data date?

Dear All Brothers,

Thanks for your advices.

However, all activities stay on the data date as their start date but not extent forward....

Any other setting I need to check??

I haven’t seen such case in suretrak...

indeed, welcome!

the confusion for you may arise from the fact that P3 does not automatically schedule by default. You can change this, so it will act more like Suretrac or MSP but you will find that not having your activities running all over the place everytime you make a link or change a duration can be very soothing... ;)

It’s also essential for larger plans, where the schedule update can take minutes, thus rendering plan editing impractical with auto-schedule on

Run a Schedule!

’F9’ or ’Tools Schedule’
