Hi Ronald,

Your comment about "P3 3.1 not running in 64 bit was unfounded" is quite a revelation. In the past, this has been one of the issues raised by those who are convinced that P3 3.1 users should migrate to P3ec because in the near "future" P3 3.1 won’t be able to run on the next version of Microsoft OS. For me this issue is very important because some people, wittingly or unwittingly, have already made a false assumption on the issue.

The first interesting thing that should be pointed-out is that our fears of P3 not being able to run on the new Vista “64-bit” software was unfounded. Had Microsoft actually delivered on their promise to make Vista 64-bit only (with a 32-bit instruction set emulator and nothing for 16-bit programs,) then we would have been out of luck. Fortunately, Microsoft has never delivered on its promises the first time in its long history.

The Vista operating system will be released in two flavors; one for Servers that is truly 64-bit and will not run P3, the other Vista for personal computers will not be 64-bit and will run P3 just fine.
