try just clicking on 1 of the activities, then click assign, it will open the box of choices, then before selecting the pred or successor you could highlight additional activities in the schedule to which that relationship should be applied. then once you have numerous activities selected, click on the predecessor then the + sign to apply that relationship to all of the highlighted activities. Note: It wont show up in the pred tab unless you are selected on just 1 actvity.
But if you have your 2 projects open, you will be able to select the activity from the other project to make a pred.

I have the same problem with Sandy. The assign button at the top is not active when I opened 2 projects. But I could assign the relationships using the assign button at the bottom layout.
Thanks,

Sorry its me. I never had this situation, so everything will be a try. Two possibilities Im just considering:
- User mistake
- Database corrupt
May be youll check some items:
- If you open successor and predecessor detail-tab, can you assign relationships?
- Does it happen for each activity?
- Schedule the project and the open the log-file. Is it ok?
- If youll export the project and import it again as a new project into your training database? --> try to assign relationships. Still not possible?
- Open the XER-file with the Editor, or Notpad. Search for "%T" the start of each category until youll find "TASKPRED". Are there relationships within this category? If not, then check projects integrity (TOOLS --> Check Project Integrity) --> Faulty, then check for the errors.
- How is your IT staff? Can they check the database?
All the questions I have for now.
Good luck

for my opinion it is an excellent item: if you have a project with different responsibilities - e.g. new product development - and the part-project-managers depend on each other. Then you can assign the profiles, that everybody can write into his area, read the others, and assign relationships between them. I had such plans already.
In the Primavera Security Profiles for Project Profiles there is a line item called "Add/Edit Project Activities Except Relationships" God only knows why the drongos at Primavera put in so many strange security selections but maybe you should see if this one is ticked for you?

Sarah,
Thanks, youre right. It is much easier to look for the activities mostly if the project(s) is(are) huge.

Tried that, logged on as admin superuser, same result. Cannot assign relationships with both projects open.

Fair enough, I can see how that works then.

It was a request to Primavera from Germany.
Regards and a nice week-end
