Integrate P6 with Esimate

Hi

The best software for integration is CCS Candy .I  am a costing Engineer & i am now using Excel for preparing various MIS reports .I think if u use candy & give good inputs its a fantastic software

Thanks for the reply Mike, I think we are following similar thought processes. This is what we have had to do to get the alignment with Estimate & Schedule - we have had to go back to it and allocate a scope ID / WBS to each line and then summarize up to Plant Labour Material etc.

 

I suppose the obvious answer to my question is the steps need to be followed properly 1. Identify Scope 2. Define WBS 3. Build estimate & Build Schedule (and get these built together not independently).

Hi Rob

This is where your WBS numbers are most effective.

I assume that your estimate breakdown is on some sort of Spreadsheet.

You need to go through it and allocate your programme WBS codes to the estimate lines.

Then summarise the cost elements to each WBS entry to transfer to the programme resource section.

This is very cumbersome in Excell but works very simply in Lotus 123.

In some organisations they have standard WBS codes that both the estimators and planners use - maybe you should discuss this with your managers.
