msu,

a stand-alone PM5 works with MSDE (a lighter version of MS SQL Server 2000); you should not have any problem installing this software, as it is a part of the PM5 set-up process

can you check in Windows Start, Parameters, Install software panel if something is making troubles?

Hi there,

I have tried to install P6 stand-alone on my customers’s PCs today; it’s a long process indeed, but with 2Gb RAM it works;

Problem is that when I launch Project Management, I am requested to enter a "Registration code" that my PAR would calculate from the software Serial Number and some "Installation code"; there is nothing about that in the PDF Files.

Please somebody explain, I am lost in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and no help available here

Thanks

P5 installation is little complex but once u did it, its nothing like rocket science.

First install microsoft SQL server

Run P5 setup from cd

Select stand alone installation option

it’s easy, I’ve just installed a stand-alone P6 yesterday and I haven’t sweat, but first you’ll need a registration key, it will be provided by your supplier; but yet, i’m still not convinced if it’s working properly.

Hi

you better describe what you did and the error message you received.

Some basics for the stand-alone P5:

- You need local administrator rights, because P5 will write into the registry

- Read the tested configurations first. (I’m at home, but as far as I remember it is on the documentation-cd under technical...)

- As for other installations: close all other applications.

- Keep in mind where you have your license file, you’ll be asked for it.

- Name of the SQL-Server in general is the name of your pc.

- When during the installation you are asked for a database password, leave it as it is.

- First access to P5: User admin, Pwd: admin then create some new users following the admin guide on your documentation cd.

Server installation to be performed by your it-staff - give them the admin-guide.

Good luck!

Dieter

Hi Beth

On the documentation CD you can find "P3toPrimavera_v50.pdf". It is reliable and contains many good advices.

To the EPS: There is no ideal EPS. It depends on your need and the structure of your business. But there are two items:

- Heritage of access-rights: If you have rights for a node, you have those rights for all items below that node as well.

- Budget: Your top-down budget planning is best along the EPS.

Good luck!

Dieter

Hi Ulysses,

I went to P5 training but they did not cover the conversion of data process. They just covered basic function like adding activities, setting up activity codes, etc. I imported my P3 project but it wants me to set up an EPS. What advice can you give me for setting this up and the advantages. Anything I need to look for/set up now that will benefit me in the future? Any other new features I need to be aware of? Thanks so much.
