Matt,

Unfortunately not, you can display earned value column in activity module or area only.

Rodel,

Thanks for the advice seems to work really well.

However is there a way to display Earned Value Units in the Resource Assignments Area?

Thanks,

Matt,

In that case you I assumed that you are looking on resource assignment module. Click assignment icon or Select Project-> Resource Assignment. On this module you can use the same group & sort/ filter like tracking and activities module.

If you are looking for daily assignment level select View-> Select Usage Spreadsheet on your project menu. On the left panel right click and select group & sorted by-> Resources. That will group resources and activities. You can always go back to customise the group & sort option same as filter. On the spreadsheet display, you can show budgets, actual, remaining etc... by cumulative or by time interval. Right click then select Spreadsheet Fields-> Customized… then all the field you wanted to show.

If you don’t want spreadsheet option, just uncheck under View menu. To display budget, actual and remaining right click and select columns-> Units or customise to select all the fields that you wanted to show.

Hope this meet your requirements.

Hi Rodel,

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried to sort by resource, or resource ID’s or even resources but still cannot get what I am after.

If you have multi-resources assigned to a task when you group/sort by resource it only shows tasks with no resource allocation.

When you group/sort by resources or resources ID’s it summarises to the different combination of allocations. This is not what I was after.

For example if I have fitters, cranes, tooling etc as resources I want ot be able to sort so I can only see the values for fitters only. Can this be done in P5?

Thanks,

Hi Matt,

Yes you can do the same as Suretrak. Actually P3e is more advance and more facilities to suit your requirements. I suggest that you use the activity module instead of tracking module. From there you can organise your activities by resources or any group & sort/ filter that you requires as long as the data is available. You can draw and show the profile, resource assignment/ usage by clicking the icons on the top that correspond to your needs. You can show the column like earn value, budget and actual etc… for comparison and analysis. Familiarise your self on the icons and their usage and you will able to get the result that you wanted. If you really need my assistance please explain in more detail of what you want to achieve so I can point you to a right direction.

Hi Rodel,

Have managed to get the profile working thanks for the help!

Have another question regarding the group and sort/filter functions. In suretrak it is possible to organise by resource and then filter by activities that contain the resource which gives you budgeted and earned value data for just that resource.

I have tried to do a similar thing in P3e but can only filter by activity which contain the resources however the data given contains all resources asigned in the tasks. Is there a way of getting the same result from P3e that we currently get from Suretrak?

Thanks,

Thanks both for the replies.

Oliver funnily enough I was just trying the Activity Code method when your reply came through. Unfortunately this didn’t seem to work either!

Rodel if you don’t mind guiding me through the Group and Sort option if you think this is where I need assistance I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi Matt,

If you’re not familiar with group & sort or filter, the simpliest way is to highlight all the resources by selecting first resource and press shift key and click the last resources. If you need assistance on group & sort or filter please let me know so I can guide you.

Hi,

If you add an activity code to the activities that you want to know resource info for, then filter by that activity code, I think the resource usage profile will only show resource usage associated with the filtered activities.

Hope this helps.
