The Amrun Project, near the Embley river in north Queensland, will extend Rio Tinto’s Weipa bauxite mine to ensure a steady supply of bauxite to Rio Tinto’s two alumina refineries in Gladstone, Queensland, & export markets. Increased bauxite production will be staged, up to a maximum of 50 million dry product tonnes per annum (mdptpa). Amrun includes construction of various infrastructure, including port & shiploading facilities, beneficiation plant & product handling facilities, diesel-fuelled power station, borefield & dams, barge & ferry operations, & access roads.

 

Contributions to Amrun Project

  • My role as Field Planner started from Early Works of Construction phase.
  • Data analysis & Reports preparation to assist Project Management in decision making.
  • Workout project control plans & detailed staffing utilization plans for discipline activities.
  • Ascertain correct scope of work is reflected on all schedules.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary schedule requirements & constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines. Work with the performing organizations & units to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan.
  • Establish & implement methods for determining activity durations within assigned disciplines.
  • Develop quantity release, installation curves for assigned disciplines. Perform quantity, manpower, & cost resource loading for assigned schedules.
  • Undertake performance monitoring & control functions.
  • Develop & monitor short term (3 week) construction schedules.
  • Monitor schedule deviation for assigned disciplines, including subcontractor submittals, & recommend corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
  • Determine critical-path activities for assigned contracts, & identify significant activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements.
  • Identify & report activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule, prepare & present the Schedule Impact Report (CIAR).
  • Claims analysis, prospective & forensic schedule analysis.
