• Role & Basic Function: Directs, coordinates and supervises the planning, preparation, scheduling of preventive, predictive, shutdown and major turnaround inhouse maintenance activities in the department. Participates in the development of work scope in execution of major plant turnarounds. Identifies requirements for the development of computer based maintenance management system. Prepares various regular and ad hoc management reports. 

• Supervision: Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Planning Section to keep enhancing the skill of Planners in order to get optimum results. 

• Schedule activities: Directs and supervises the detailed job preparation and scheduling activities. Includes review of historical plant data, available time standard, requirements for special services and resources, and material requirements prepared by engineers. Discusses work priorities with the subordinates, and endorses and assists in obtaining external manpower/equipment services. Initiates actions for labour/service hire agreements. 

• Shutdown Maintenance: Supervises the detailed planning and preparation work for modular plant shutdowns including review of detailed job lists with historical analysis work records, manpower utilization statistics and investigation of work methods, preparation of estimates of labour, materials, tools, and external assistance and following up to ensure availability of such resources in time. Supervises the preparation of critical path networks for major/critical work to allow control of shutdown duration and costs. Monitors progress of shutdown works and suggests methods to improve upon the schedule. 

• Work Procedure: Participates in the preparation and implementation of detailed maintenance work procedure and practices for various activities. 

• Management System: Follows up on the requirement for development and utilization of computer based maintenance management system. Includes identifying ensuring implementation. Supervises preparation of various computerized reports on work order back log, manpower and material utilization, maintenance performance indices, etc 


• Contract Works : Participates in the preparation of job specifications and job scope for development of contracts and assists in the evaluation of bids received, providing comments and recommendations as required. Coordinates and follows up on maintenance contracts and contractual obligations assigned to planning, including reviewing contractor’s invoices along with respective concern engineers, recommending payment against respective budget and cost codes with cost control engineer. 

• Coordination : Coordinates the preparation and implementation of routine, preventive and predictive maintenance programmes for all disciplines in the assigned plant. Includes participating in the review of job content and frequency of maintenance activities, and ensuring the continual updating of such programmes. Follows up with Sr. Engineers and Section Heads to discuss scheduling and work execution problems. Effects amendments to maintenance schedules as necessary 

• Reports : Prepares management information reports related to all disciplines and analysis of utilization of manpower, cost of manpower and materials. Coordinates the preparation and updating of data on various aspects of maintenance performance and cost related matters. Review the resources estimation, initiate and follow-up with management for necessary approvals.
