The Resource & Planning Manager was created as a new position within the company
Transferred to Network Rail under TUPE as maintenance function taken in-house
The remit of the East & North R&P manager is all maintenance staff within the zone; in total around 550 staff
The responsibilities of this role include: -
Creating cost effective rosters based on track access
Developing systems to best allocate manpower based on access, leave, terms & conditions & training requirements
Planning staff training to minimise overtime & disruption to planned work
Advising other managers on rostering aspects of terms & conditions packages
Leading local union negotiations on rostering issues
Advising other managers on different methods of rostering staff, along with cost (& non-cost) benefit analysis of such changes
Analyse vehicle distribution to ensure best use of resource
