I am a planner and forensic delay analyst. The two roles are interchangeable and in my opinion we cannot be considered delay analysts without appropriate and contemporaneous live planning work. Construction changes constantly and without recent experience it is difficult to maintain credibility.

Bob Cooper explains the recent changes made to the Delay and Disruption Protocol by the Society of Construction Law

The Society of Construction Law is reviewing its Delay and Disruption Protocol, which was issued in 2002, a process that will ultimately result in the preparation of a second edition. In the first of a series of review updates, the Society has changed its guidelines for retrospective delay analysis. One of the problems when using a planned v as-built method of delay analysis, particularly on a pure observational basis, is that it is not often clear where the critical path has been or when it change. An experienced professional with over 35 years experience in the international construction industry. He specialises in the preparation of delay analysis and forensic planning for contractual claims and in dispute resolution proceedings. He is a registered expert with the Academy of Experts in London and has acted as a planning expert in disputes in the UK, Hong Kong and the Middle East. He has given evidence at hearings on a number of occasions.
