Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

My department is currently looking at implementing Pertmaster Risk Expert.

Has anyone got any real life experience of using the software? Does help or hinder?

Does the impact it has upon your schedule risk promote you into using it regularly? Or is it something that never gets used?

Hi Alex - the last time I checked it was about $15,000 Australian $, the basic version about $8,000. That was when the AUD was strong (.90c) against the US$ (about 4 months ago). Too much for me to spend!!

cheers,

Omar

We have just purchased this software and agree it is easy to use at the basic level - but I am interested in using it to its full potential - does anyone know of any GOOD training courses on it’s use? - preferably in/near Australia?

Ta!

Forgot to say that Pertmaster is very easy to use and it is available to work with Primavera 5.0 an MS Project.

Haha!

Cheers for the advice.

Back when project finished in time I suppose Wagon Wheels were bigger, there was no such thing as McDonalds and you could go to Blackpool, buy your tea and get the train home all for less than 1 1/2 pence.

Oliver,
you need to integrate PRE use into the project delivery process
1 use at each stage gate review.
2 integrate with estimate and risk register.

That means aligning estimating / cost / risk / scheduling data systems very closely

As usual the information has to be owned by the project team and not the planner and you need to work on senior management to explain what schedule uncertainty - as we never had it my day as all projects finished on time !!
