Hi,

Please check your setting.

Hit -f9 -option-Define crictical activities. Tick total float less then or equal to 0h,

also check " Compute total float as "finished float=late finish-Early finish"

Calender for Schedulling relationship lag.

"Predecessor Activity Cal,

Check the above setting,

if setting is correct and problem stil exist then change the duration , and relationship, and lags

hi,

I think you can create two filters, one is total float =1 and the other is total float is 112. Then you can display one CPM when select one of above filters and filter ’critical’ .

Best Regards.

HI

why would we need to show 2 paths? is it best practice to have more than one?

how can we make it in p6?

looks likee some of us still have to start up from the basics...

Shazia was right on one thing "if the problem still exists change the duration, links..."

there can be two or more critical paths for a programme which has two or more areas or sectors running parallel and each of which finally merge to drive the project finish date.

But the scene here is totally different. The path has a total flot of 112 days.....

Looks like you want to create your own critical path.

If you still are sure the path should be critical, then change the links and reduce its float..

Best Regards

Hi Azeez,

Thanks for your comments. As you already know a program can have more than one areas running parallel and it is also true that these two areas merge to drive the project finish date. The same is the case with my project. My second area has a chain of activities which all are showing a float of 112 hrs. I want to indicate this chain of activities as a second critical path. And here I come to my original problem that how can I show this second path while still showing a critical path of zero float in my first area.

Thanks

Ijaz

Hi Ijas

I would like to know why you want to make a path with 122 TF critical....

* Is this because your Project manager or construction team have recommended from their experience ?

* Or u want it to be critical for claims ?

The only way is to bring down the TF on the second path to zero ( or less than the figure you want to show critical say TF less than 5).

Ijaz,

Critical path means longest path or zero float or as defined float. Total float is the amount of time that activity can be delay but not delaying project completion date. If you have 112 float then it’s far from being critical.

If the cause of 112 float is because of an open logic then P6 has an option to select to make open ends as critical when running schedule (F9).
