Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi everyone,

I am back with some more problems;

1) My schedule happens to have hundreds of activity codes, which represent different locations of a railway line project. Since locations are sequential, so the order in which these codes are displayed in a report is important. Today I imported a backup copy of the same project at a different location, as a result it shuffled the order of activity codes, and report showed random order of locations. I had to manually re-order them and it was quite laborious. I wonder, should a project import event alter the ordering of the activity codes? If yes then how to stop it, if not then why it happened on the first place?

2) Is there a way to place the timescale at the bottom of the Gantt chart in P3 V5? I remember having this option in P3 V3.1 and loved it. Its useful especially if you have to plot larger area reports.

3) A recently talked about problem, not saving the layout in different levels of collapse.

4) How can I print different calendars?

5) Can we allocate a specific calendar to a ’lag’ of a relationship? For example, a precast segment is to be erected 30 days (working+non working) after finish of precast. If I define a relationship of precast and erection with FS+30, the software would assume 30 ’working days’ lag and would not count weekends and statutory holidays. How do I educate the software that this lag is 30 elapsed days, not working days?

Well so much fun for a single thread :-). Hope it is not oversaturated.

Any helpful comments are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

ZM

This may sound odd but it works!
After collapsing to a level, save the layout using the pull-down menu at the top left of you screen. This works in Project layouts also.
But it doesn’t work for publish layouts.
Good Luck

Hi everyone,

I am back with some more problems;

1) Display the column and sort it but column be ware of the number remember add 000 in front

2) Yes display Resource Spreadsheet with no value in the spreadshee so the activity will have timescale @ the bottom

3) Cannot help you to click a few + and - Sign in a program

4) Assign one activity each for each calenda and print those activity out

5) If thats what you want I think it will be more appropriate to use a activity to representing the lag, that way you can copy and paste.

1. Group the activity code under Project rather Global.

5. Use a dummy activity with that particular calander
