Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Test plans or reports for P5 deployment using Citrix

Does anyone have any test plans or performance reports for system testing P5 software performance across a WAN using Citrix. We are installing P5 and MyPrimavera across multiple user sites around the country and want to benchmark test system performance and user response times.

Thanks

Thanks,

And do u know if it’s too expensive? And if it generates kind of problems during - or after - installation?

Regards.

As your V5 will be sat on a server and you will be technically logged on to that server (via CITRIX), the only real point of vulnerability should be the CITRIX connection itself.

Depending on the version of CITRIX you’re running, you’ll have a time out lag value of around 2 seconds (give or take). Providing your WAN Pipe is large enough for the other traffic you’re shoving down it, you’ll be fine.

Would be interested to hear how you guys get on, though (used to do that sort of thing in a previous, happier, life.. ;o))

CITRIX is the software that allows users to access the deployed application on server.Instead of loading P3e/c (Project managment) software on your desktop the application is loaded on the Server. You will access the application through the Citrix thin client software. All the processing is done in the server and you will just see the screen and the only process in desktop is keystrokes.

The advantage is speed on processing comparing to a normal PC to Database server connection to Server to Server connection.

Citrix uses it’s own packet (ICA packet) it’s own encryption (ICA encryption, using a public / private key algorithm.

This much faster and secure.

We are also testing. The initial response is good comparing normal client - server configuration. Please note that it is important that the citrix server to P3e/c database (PMDB) connection should be good.
