Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear friends

I have 2 project files

(1) the monthly updated schedule
(2) the baseline auto updated for planned progress on same data date as that of the file 1.

Now i open the file 1 and assign file 2 as its target.
is it possible to filter all the activities that have started(percent complete GT 0%) in the target file from within file 1?

Yep that does it.
but while doing global change consider including criteria for those milestone activities which may not have start dates(say finish milestones) or vice versa as u may require.

Conclusion : you can access few target parameters thru global change options.

cheers to all.
planning planet is really a dynamic forum.

In the custom data :
1) create an item name TASD , type S, length:7, Target actual start.

2) do a global change to store all Target actual start dates to TASD

3) Run a filter on TASD

You can repeat these steps to any date in the target.

Dear Johny

Could you further explain this.
I tried making a custom data item with "type start date" in the target project and ran a global change to make all activities with percent complete GT 0 to have this CDI to become Actual start date, but i cant access CDI from main project.

You can do it by:

1) creating custom data items corresponding to your Early and/or Actual dates in the Target project.

2) run filters on these Custom data items in the current project

Dear Ashraf

but this sometimes may not serve the purpose when we want to show all started activities in updated program along with the target.

usually some activities in updated program starts earlier than planned.

Hi,

You can do it otherway around i.e. make (1) the target of (2) and open all started activities of (2) by giving a filter %Comp >0.

Hope this helps ad the resultant filter will be the same as you require.

Ashraf
