Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi Planeteers,

I have recently run into a problem with resource coding I would like assistance on.

I am developing a plan for the office to resource the various tenders and bids we have coming up. The key resource are the estimators.

We have Civil, mechanical and electrical estimators and I have defined the resource library as follows:

ES* ***All Estimators***
ESC* **Civil Estimators**
ESCFB Fred Bloggs
ESCJD John Doe
ESE* **Elec. Estimators**
ESETS Tony Sparke
ESEWB William Bell
ESM* **Mechaincal Estimators**
ESMBJ Bob Jane

The problems:
1. By entering the availability of these resources I can display the limits of the disciplines (ESC*, ESE* and ESM*) but not the overall ES*... should this be possible???

2. One of our estimators is a bit of an all rounder and can fill in where required... how do i treat these multi-skilled resources in a hierarchical coding structure?

I have also run into this problem in construction schedules where you may have rigger / scaffolders or rigger / crane drivers.
