Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Our IT guys are trying to install P3 for us. The license is a local license IE not networked.

Does anyone have any idea why this error message is occurring?

I am fairly certain this is a Btrieve generated error message.

Btrieve is a third party database manager used by a number of software packages like older versions of Prolog and I have come across this problem a couple of times before a long time ago.

I am not confident enough to give you instructions of how to resolve the problem but if you are no longer using the software that uses Btrieve then I seem to remember that you need to manually delete the Btrieve files from the Windows System and System 32 directories before installing. Some of these files begin with WBTR.

If you are still using the other software that uses Btrieve then it is a bit more complicated and I can not remember the solution.

I hope I have given some pointers for your IT to follow. If you are in maintenance then Primavera Systems will assist or you could search on the Primavera Knowledgebase. If you are not in maintenance then an internet search on "Btrieve Error: (20) Record Manager Inactive" will give you many solutions used by other vendors.
