Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all.

I have been tasked with creating a process map to show the necessary stages of the planning process from receiving a tender to completing construction on site.

I am just looking to gain some usefull points from the forum in terms of important stages to ensure the programme is utilised correctly as part of a construction project.

Does anyone already operate under a process map? Does anyone have spefic 'gates' or 'target' to hit before moving onto the next stage of the process.

Thanks in advance to anyone that replies, much appreciated.

Andrew

First, what is your role? Are you the project owner, engineer or architect, project manager, contractor, specialized contractor, or subcontractor or financer or banker? Each one have specific roles, responsibilities and contracts. Hence, each one may have different approaches and strategies in creating their own plans, appropriated to their own needs and targets. However, eventually, these project players having their own specific plans, shall be combined together to form the common goal which is the Project. A project maybe composed of several packages, several concepts, and of course several plans that boil down to several WBS, activities or tasks and of course several resources. Having said that, IMO, the first "Gate" in your "process map" that must be opened is the source of Funds, and the rest shall easily follow.
