Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear all,

I would like to talk about a method I developed about Work Breakdown Structure: the 3D WBS.

The idea is that there are 3 dimensions by project phase.

  • Engineering Task = Discipline x Functional Systems x Activity or (Discipline x SBS x ABS)
  • Procurement Task = Localisation x Product x Activity or (GBS x PBS x ABS)
  • Construction Task = Localisation x Product x Activity or (GBS x PBS x ABS)
  • Commissioning Task = Discipline x Functional Systems x Activity or  (Discipline x SBS x ABS)

There are 3D Cubes under each phase.

The list of tasks is obtained by matrix.

I think that all the projects have this standard WBS.

What do you think about this approach?

Regards,

Hi

Can u pls paste a snapshot of sample WBS on the same approach .

Hi Jean-Yves,

Spider Project users can create any number of parallel WBS for the same project and switch between them on mouth-click.

We usually recommend to create at least three WBS - based on objects, processes, and responsibility. Other structures may be based on locations and other properties of specific project.

So your approach is supported.

Best Regards,

Vladimir

A task in a little cube inside the cube of the phase. It has properties in terms of Predecessors, duration, resource...

Hi,

For example, this is the matrix for the Construction phase:

After analysis of the all the correspondences, we obtain the list of task below:

Finally, if we look at each phase, we have this WBS.
