Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear Mr.Rodel

Could you please advise me how i can assign weight factor to SCH.

For example

Activity weighting here it is?

Activity 1= EREC OF PACKAGES ON SKID w.factor

Activity 2= SKID/PACKAGE UNIT HANDLING 5% = 35,000
Activity 3= SKID/PACKAGE UNIT ERECTION 45% = 315,000
Activity 4=SKID/PACKAGE UNIT ALIGNMENT 25% = 175,000
Activity 5=SKID/PACKAGE UNIT FINISHING 20% = 140,000
activity 6=SKID/PACK FINAL CHECK/CERTIF 5% = 35,000

i want to update these Acticity with respect to Progress Measurment Sysytem which having same Weighting in xl format.

Shazia,
I don’t see any problem. When I import the XER it gave me the output below:
Baseline
Did you assign Resource Curve? That maybe the cause why and not according to linear distribution. Is it possible to send me a screen shot of what you are getting? By default resource curve is not included on exported XER.

Best Regards,
Rodel

Shazia,
Check your Activity Calendar settings – Working day from Monday – Friday?
Also checked the Planned Date under resource tab (right click-> Select Customize Resources Column-> Date-> Planned Start and Planned Finish) Check if planned date = current date which may have difference. Is OD = RD?
29-July-10 = Thursday, then equals to Thur + Fri = 16hrs 1st wk
02 to 06-Aug-10 = Mon-Fri = 40hrs 2nd wk
09 to 11-Aug-10 = Mon-Wed = 24hr 3rd wk

If planned Finished at 11-Aug-10 12:00AM then you got only 9 days and not 10 days. Another thing to look at is Unit/Time = 8/d, if not then you had over allocated your resource.

GOOD DAY, Mr.Rodel
you help me lots,

I have a resource who will work for 8 hr / day for 10 days, total ( 80 Days)

The activity will be start from 29 july-10 and finished on 11-Aug-10(with 5 days Cal)

however in Activity usage spreadsheet shows first week 16 Units,(mean only 2 days work) and then next week 56 units,(considering 7 *8 =56 Units) while resource will work only 40 hr instead of 56.

Please Advise

Thanks

Shazia,
It’s very simple. Use Physical % complete settings on Percent Complete type then Define this Steps in Steps tab and put the weightings. Under Project Window-> Calculation tab-> Activities tick Activity Percent Complete based on Activity Steps.

Every time you progress your step it will automatically calculate the progress to activity. You can progress the steps normally and no need to wait until it reach 100%. You can enter say 5% or any progress to every step. See sample below
