Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi, I’m fairly new to Planning, only have about 18 months Planning Assistant experience and finding it difficult to gain more experience after the company I worked for went into liquidation in Glasgow about 8 months ago.

Does anyone have any ideas of the best companies in the Central Scotland area to contact about a Junior / Assistant Planning role so that I could gain more experience in Planning, would be grateful for any help, thanks Peter

key to achieve your goals in Plannig career are

Always try to work on site, rather than in the office
try to undertand the importance of milestones
question as much as you can in every scenario, Planners job is to question
get some comerial awarness
do site walkbouts as many times as you can

always challenge the start dates for next avaialble phase, i-e start of installation, commissioning etc
undertand Early warnings and Compensation events

above are only some bits
and many more you will learn by time like me.

hope this helps.
happly planning

Dear Peter,

The best thing is to use the yellow pages:

http://www.yellowpages.com/Scotland-MD/Construction-Management

check the following categories:

1. Construction Management
2. Contractors
3. Consultants (Architectural & Engineering) firms

Send CVs and talk to them, and ask your local co-workers.

Best Regards,

Samer
