Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Greetings to All.

I have a project having 12-15 units which are given to different-different contractors for maintenance activities.

Now, they have been requested to load their resources in their own project which i have sent them in xer format. After they are done, they will send me back so that i could merge them in my schedule.

but i am confused that there are 15 contractors and they will create almost same resource name which i am going to import after they send me in xer. So is there any probability of failure in this technique..

Please suggest me the best way to merge all the units along with their resource so that there could be least chances of failure.

You have to make sure you are not overwriting the existings resources and maybe other global data as well. 

So look at your import configuration. More here:

make the resource name unique for each contractor put their initals after the resource i.e. carpenter-TB could be carpenter for toll brothers company.

when you merge select add to exiisting during the import process
