Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Managing Contingencies

Hi

May be its me and missed the topic. Just wondering if we have Managing Contingencies topic covered in "Project Controls Compendium and Reference (GPCCAR). This is highly important during project execution to manage contingencies to control, analyze for effective / profitable execution.

Just thought of bringing it up.

Cheers Ritika

Hi RitikaWhy not write one

Hi Ritika

Hi Ritika,Thanks for taking

Hi Ritika,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and for elevating this aspect.

As the management of contingencies, as you rightly point out, relates to so many aspects of Project Controls the SME's determined that there was no real way to create a stand-alone module for managing contingencies.

OK, so how do we find explanations about "managing contingencies" in the GPCCAR ?

If you use the SEARCH button on the top-right of Planning Planet you will see if returns numerous results, then if you FILTER the results using the FILTER BY TYPE block at the top right of the screen to filter just for GPCCAR entries you will see if returns lots of references.

This URL will also give you the results:

http://www.planningplanet.com/search/apachesolr_search/contingency?filters=type%3Agpccar

I hope this helps and please do post any queries or observations that you have.

There is a growing team of junior and senior practitioners helping to provide comment and ideas on how to improve the GPCCAR as well as how to propose your own additions or changes to the Modules.  You can read about the team and the change process here.  You can also join that team :)
