Planning Manager, Group Five Projects Pty Ltd, Saldanha Steel Project

START Date:
January, 1996
END Date:
December, 1997

Started with development of coding structure for consortium and level 3 programs for “Saldanha Mechanical Contractors”, written in Primavera ver 2.b. This contractual program had to be integrated with other contractors on site due to the fast track nature of the project and had to be totally network compatible so that all contractors on site could update one integrated schedule. This schedule became contractual level 3 programs for the consortium.
Moved to site & put together a planning team consisting of myself and 6 planners to control & monitor all aspects of project. On site I was responsible for development of level 4 programs for all areas, program was in excess of 9000 activities with 4 sub projects and links to access databases for control of thousands of piping spools. Was responsible for all schedules related to project.
To interface all detail planning into overall schedule. To produce monthly planning reports to the “Exco” board of directors. To formulate and present commercial claims regarding extensions, modifications and additions to contract. Near the tail end of project had to implement pickling & passivating schedules that will tie in with cold and hot commissioning of the plant.
Had the “IT” function to maintain all company pc’s and networks. To ensure all correct backup procedure’s were maintained. Project was successful and completed in shorter time period of similar plant built in Germany.
