New Discussion System on your Group

Dear Members of the TILOS group,

This is a very quick email to advise that in accordance with some user suggestions we have removed the old (and clunky) Group Forum and replaced if with a new, simple group DISCUSSIONS function.

http://www.planningplanet.com/groups/506158/tilos/groupdiscussions

Members of this group can now create and contribute to discussions.

All members of the group will receive an email alert advising that a new post, or a reply to an existing post, has been made.

We are still improving the system and do hope that this is seen as a sensible step forward. All suggestions will be appreciated.

We look forward to seeing active and interesting discussion being held within this group.

Curves

Hi

the discussion above seems be purely refering to P6 or ?

TILOS uses curves in a different way to describe the effects of the way along thethings are build (ROW). This allows to have  withing one tasks different work rates for the crews or a precise quantity calculation.

E.g. Clearing is depending on land coverage (Trees, Bushland, Prairie). For each type you can set special work rates, the line representing the task in a time distance diagram becomes than a curve or a polygone. Much more accurate than representation in a Gantt.

Regarding progess we report which section has been progressed and not just a physical % complete.

What kinds of projects are you planning?

Curves (front load/back load, ..yada yada..yada)

Dear All

i have couple questions if u would like to awnser

Curves ( front load/ back load.... linear peak all that kind of curve) allocation to the resource to activity level

what is the benefit of this one? when we assign, as normally we don't? and we can still see the Curve for that particular Resource on Project wise basis

then what is the benefit of these curves.

Do they help P6 for distribution of Man hours over the said activirt time window and once assigned to an resource ( at activity) how can we see this curve.
DO WE NEED TO ASSIGN THESE CURVES TO RESOURCES FOR EACH ACTIVITY HAVING LONGER TIME PERIOD TO ASSISST P6 FOR MAN HOURS DISTRIBUTION.?

Physical % COMPLETE is showing 100% and i am updating duration % as Progress in P6, what should i do to control this ( other than applying manually Global change
each time I update progress or how this calculation startegies will be controlled.
As i hate to do the global Change.

So far i know lil bit that this is linked for cost matters and does not work good / well with % duration so planners do use the global change. Is that right??

one thing i also tried to stop this by a filter as below

for a three week look ahead Schedule (which is meant to show only in progress activities for the next 3 week period.)

Sntax is like this

display all rows | parameter|Value|high

show any of the following

where  Activity status is not equal to "completed"   i.e(finish date is not actualized so show only those activities )
or      Physical % Complete is not equal to "100%"

But still couple activities are showing up ( or may be all with Physical % Completion=100%)

I have tried GChange but did not apply. it works good but that's a bad idea.

What do you suggest  to avoid this scene.

Your respone shall be highly appreciated.
